12:30 PM Outdoor Fire In Gordon With Dangerous Elements

GORDON: 12:30 PM Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched Gordon Volunteer Fire Department to 75 Tifton Road to an outdoor fire.
As the call was dispatched Houston County Sheriff Captain Bill Rafferty was traveling to Gordon on an investigation. Captain Rafferty saw the smoke in the air and it was strong and thought it could be a residence. But it was a grass fire. But in the fire was propane tanks and other chemical elements.
Assisting Gordon Volunteer Fire was Lucy Volunteer Fire.
As the chemicals were noticed Gordon Volunteer Fire requested assistance from Ashford Fire. A fire engine and Ashford Fire Chief Jimmy Posey responded and assisted.
Also responding to the scene for Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management were EMA Director Chris Judah, Field Operations Liason Rickey Stokes and Emergency Management Volunteer Services Matt Boster.
The fire units, Gordon, Lucy and Ashford did a great job. The chemicals produced a potentially hazardous situation
