6:14 PM. Grass Fire Almost Became A Structure Fire

HOUSTON COUNTY: 6:14 PM. Houston County Sheriff 911 Center dispatched several volunteer fire units to a outdoor fire. But the outdoor fire was quickly headed to being a structure fire.
Responding to the scene on Blackman Road between Saunders Road the National Peanut Festival was Rehobeth Volunteer Fire and Hodgesville Volunteer Fire.
A couple of the nearby residents were returning home from dining out when they came up on the fire. They had the rakes swiftly attempting to get the grass fire out before reaching the wooden shed structure.
The volunteer fireman were quick on the scene and got it out.
The fireman called for Alabama Forrestry to respond but cancelled. The reason for the cancellation was because they would have to travel from an adjacent county.
Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah was on the scene also.
