DOTHAN:   9:21 PM.   Dothan Police are working the Ford Country area.


They are at Cougar and Dixie Drive on a traffic stop. But the car went several blocks without yielding to the blue lights.


The Dothan Police Officer made it clear he was "not in pursuit". Finally after numerous turns the driver stopped.


Dothan Police is an accredited police department. In fact it is one of a handful of agencies which is accredited.


Dothan Police has a policy in place where Dothan Police Zofficers can not get into pursuit with a vehicle.


Tonight finally the car stopped.


The Houston County Sheriff Department has a different kind of police pursuit policy. If you do not stop as soon as the deputy can get into position he is going to ram you off the road.
