The AARP Tax-Aide Program with its volunteer tax counselors is providing FREE income tax assistance, along with FREE electronic filing. Taxpayers can visit either of two sites in the Wiregrass area to obtain FREE tax help that is offered to all middle- and low-income taxpayers regardless of age. Membership in AARP is not required.
To obtain this free service taxpayers should bring their 2015 tax return and all 2016 tax forms reporting income, all Social Security cards, picture ID, check book to verify electronic deposit and any other information relative to your income and expenses. The Affordable Health Care Act (ACA) requires that taxpayers bring their Form 1095A to support their return if they bought health insurance through the ACA Marketplace.
