On March 16th, 2017 officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to Estes Street in reference to the Daffin Food Service building being on fire. Upon officer’s arrival, smoke was observed emitting from the roof of the building. Units from the Marianna Fire Department, Jackson County Fire and Rescue, and numerous other departments responded and began combating the fire.

With the assistance of the State Fire Marshall’s Office, the Marianna Police Department began conducting an investigation into the incident. During the investigation information was obtained that led investigators to believe this was an intentional fire. Suspects were identified and investigators were able to make contact with a juvenile. It was discovered that the juvenile was at the scene during the time the fire was started.

Investigators were then able to locate Corey Rivera-Allen, at the Cottondale Village Apartments. Investigators arrested Rivera-Allen on charges related to the arson.

After obtaining all facts related to this case, it was found that Rivera-Allen and the juvenile entered the building with the intent to burglarize it. During their time in the building they made the decision to set fire to the building. After the building was set on fire, both suspects fled the scene.

This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information in reference to this case are urged to contact the Marianna Police Department at 850-526-3125 or Chipola Crimestoppers at 850-526-5000.

The Marianna Police Department would like to thank the State Fire Marshall’s Office, Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigation for their continued assistance in the investigation. The Marianna Police Department would also like to thank the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Marianna Fire and Rescue, Jackson County Fire and Rescue, and all other responding departments for their assistance during this incident.
