ARREST MADE IN ROBBERY INVESTIGATION

The Bonifay Police Department announces the arrest of James Lee McCarty. McCarty is the suspect in the robbery at Subway on December 16, 2016. Bonifay Police obtained a trap/trace warrant for McCarty’s cell phone this afternoon and within four hours he was taken into custody in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The Bonifay Police Department would like to thank FDLE Special Agent Mike Jankowski and the New Mexico State Police for their hard work and due diligence in assisting with this fugitive from justice. McCarty will be booked in New Mexico and await extradition back to Holmes County.
Chief Chris Wells stated, “This is just another fine example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement works together to get the job done. We can’t thank our ‘brothers in blue’ enough for helping get yet another bad guy off the street.
He crossed numerous states and two time zones, but neither did him any good in the end. I would also like to thank the anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers of Holmes County; if not for you none of this would have been possible.”
