ASHFORD: Today at 2:28 PM the Honorable Judge Brad Mendheim entered a order in Houston County Circuit Court in the case of Richard Bolden verses John Whitehurst.
Whitehurst was elected as a Ashford Councilman in September 2016. Bolden was an opponent and filed an election challenge to Whitehurst.
Whitehurst took office and has been the subject of a lot of issues, to include the refusal to face the United States of America Flag for the Pledge.
Bolden claimed Whitehurst did not live in the district. Whitehurst claimed he was displaced based on a 2011 structure fire. Nut Whitehurst did not own the property where the fire was.
Bolden had a copyright infringement felony conviction.
Judge Mendheim ruled the election as void and John Whitehurst is no longer a Ashford City Concilman.
Do not know if the current Ashford Council will name a replacement of another election.
