Ashford Councilman Whitehurst Court Continued

HOUSTON COUNTY:    This past Thursday the election contest involving Ashford Councilman John Whitehurst was scheduled for court. The hearing was scheduled before 20th Judicial Circuit Court Judge Brad Mendheim.


Judge Mendheim has been in trial for two weeks in the Capital Murder trial where three people were murdered at Teaser's. The trial is still on going with the prosecution case still underway. 


When the prosecution ends then the defense begins.


Should there be a conviction then a guilt phase trial begins. If convictionis Capital Murder the jury will only have two options, life without or death penalty. But the sentence phase is a trial within itself.


Since that trial is on going Judge Mendheim has rescheduled the Whitehurst trial for January 10.
