BACK STABBING NIGHT AT SCHOOL BD MTG - To David Sewell and The Members of the Houston County School Board

HOUSTON COUNTY:     Two members of the Houston County School Board threw their hats in the ring for Superintendent for the Houston County School System.

Those two people were Matt Swann and David Sewell. Both worked in the Central Office of the system.

When the votes were cast by the registered voters David Sewell won the election.

From sources within, not David, there has not been any problems with Matt Swann working with David Sewell. That relationship has been smooth. 

There are problems elsewhere. The problems are two fold and I will address both.

#1:   The school board members, Marty Collins, Gary Cox, David Hollinger, and Scott Thomas, they have no real back bones. These men should be ashamed of themselves.

#2:   Houston County School Board Member Ken Lane is the father in law to Matt Swann and Houston County School Board Member Jimmy Kilgore is the step father of Matt Swann. Lane and Kilgore, get over it and be a man like Matt is.

#3:   Lane and Kilgore control the other school board members; Collins, Cox, Hollinger and Thomas. So far, Lane and Kilgore can not accept the will of the registered voters of Houston County and can not get over the fact that David Sewell won the election.

#4:   When David Sewell was sworn in as Superintendent, School Board Member Ricky Moore was the ONLY elected School Board member that attended. The others showed no class at all and did not attend the swearing in ceremonies.

#5:   There are several members of the Central Office who did not support David Sewell for Superintendent. These still work in the Central Office. It was evident to me tonight how these people are helping Lane and Kilgore control the votes of the School Board, against the recommendations of David Sewell.

The time is quickly coming where David Sewell needs to find a mop and a broom in the bus barn for these people in Central Office. If they are going to stab him in the back and fight him, time for them to go to sweeping the floors - of the bus barn and remove them from Central Office.

#6:   Some members of the system want to get Houston County School Superintendent changed from an elected position to an appointed system. The only reason is they do not agree with the registered voters of Houston County. The selection process of the Superintendent being elected needs to remain in place as is.

Just look over the years at the City of Dothan system verses the Houston County system. Dothan is appointed and they have had numerous problems. The county is elected and the problems have been at a minimum.

JEALOUSY and adults who want the sandbox and all of the sand is the current problem. And the time is quickly coming that David Sewell needs to make some Central Office changes, and perhaps the registered voters will need to make some school board changes.

And someone needs to give Marty Collins, Gary Cox, David Hollinger, and Scott Thomas a back brace so they will not be the puppets of Ken Lane, Jimmy Kilgore and a few at Central Office.

David Sewell was elected by the registered voters to be the Houston County School Superintendent. Get behind him and do what is BEST for the education of the students. The sandbox is bigger than your ego. Well, let me correct that... the sandbox is suppose to be bigger than your ego.

NOTE:   I have witnessed the Houston County School Board over the years since Doyle Bond was Superintendent. And I saw what was going on in the election process. So I have been watching for a while. Tonight it was evident.
