HOUSTON COUNTY:     It has been a long time since the primary elections of 2016. That is when the election was decided for Houston County School Superintendent.

The registered voters throughout Houston County, every municipality with the exception of the registered voters in the corporate city limits of Dothan, decide on the Houston County School Superintendent.

The voters selected David Sewell, a long time coach and teacher in the Houston County system, as their choice to  lead the school system over the next 6 years.

But the election was the primary election. There were only two candidates so the election was over at the first voting day.

There was no one on the Democract ticket. So unless someone had launched a successful write in campaign, Sewell was the man.

The current Superintendent, Tim Pitchford, announced months before the election that he intended to retire immediately follwoing the election. But after Sewell was elected Pitchford withdrew that retirement and has remained as Superintendent.

That Ends on January 2. That is when David Sewell will officially take over as Houston County School Superintendent. And Tim Pitchford will enter the retirement days.

The swearing in ceremony is January 2, 2017, 9 AM, at the new CTC Center on West Main Street.

WARNING FROM RSN TO HOUSTON COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD:   This warning in no way comes from David Sewell. In fact it has not been mentioned to him at all. But this warning does go to 2 members of the school board. You will be closely watched!!! There shall be no games played because of who the "registered voters" of this county selected to be the School Superintendent. I will call you out in a heart beat.

Congratulations to all of the board and new Superintendent. Do what is best for the schools and all personal agendas in the waste basket.
