HOUSTON COUNTY: Houston County residents that live and travel the 1800 block of Blackman Road are upset.
The road is in awful condition. The 1800 block if between Saunders Road and the National Peanut Festival. This part of Blackman road has been CLOSED since last years Peanut Festival.
Some of the residents and travelers report to me they have spoken with their County Commissioner, Jackie Battles. According to what they have told me, Commissioner Battles told them there were not enough houses on the road for him to be concerned about fixing the road.
The road had deteriorated. But a lot of damage was also done to the road during the National Peanut Festival 2015 when the buses traveled that road. The buses were required to travel the road shuttling people to and from the National Peanut Festival during the rain.
Some of those same people who spoke to Commissioner Battles have also talked with Houston County Road and Bridge. They have the equipment to repair the road.
UNCONFIRMED, but some of the residents said they thought the National Peanut Festival offered to contribute to repairing the road. But Commission Chairman Mark Culver and Commissioner Doug Sinquefield serve on the National Peanut Festival Board. They would not let that happen because it would hamper their privileges and status with the National Peanut Festival.
Until then, to the residents and travelers of the 1800 block of Blackman Road...Houston County Commissioner District Three Jackie Battles is not concerned to help you get the road repaired.
NOTE: The commissioners will say that is why they want the $ 1.2 BILLION DOLLAR tax increase. CAREFUL....
