Congratulations To Emily Stokes and Josh Fails On Their Engagement

In high school our daughter Emily and Josh Fails went to the prom or homecoming, I do not remember which, together with other friends. They went on a Hummer Limo.

Over the years Emily and Josh has remained friends. And when issues developed they both have been there for each other.

Over the years I have told Emily that Josh was who she should be dating. And things rocked on.

Then Josh joined the United States Marines. That aggravated me because it has always been my belief that Emily and Josh were meant to be together. But with Josh joining the Marines I knew that would probably make that never happen.

Little did I know that, after joining the Marines and when leaving for basic camp, Josh had really given Emily a stern talking to. And that she had better be at his graduation from boot camp.

Time came for graduation and Emily joined Josh's parents, Chip and Kay and sister and brother in law, Jason and Stephanie McCorkel for the trip to the graduation.

And the relationship grew.

Several weeks ago Stephanie told me that Joath would be home for Christmas and wanted to make sure that I would be around. That he wanted to talk to me.

Then plans were being developed that Emily was not going to be aware that Josh was coming home.

On Friday Josh called and wanted to talk to me. I met him and he told me that he wanted to ask my daughter to marry him. Josh quickly had my blessings. Josh asked me what if she said no and I told him to start the conversation off asking her if she knew her dad had cut her off!!!

Emily and Ashley went to Josh's parents to attend a birthday party for Jason's brother at Billy's house.

When they arrived, there stood Josh. They hugged, Josh fell to one knee and asked Emily to marry him. And she quickly said yes!

So Emily Stokes is engaged to Josh Fails.

Josh will return to California in January and then will be deployed in March. A date has not been set yet.

So we wish to congratulate Emily and Josh, along with grandson Brantley as they begin a new journey in life.

We welcome Josh with open arms. He is a great young man of which I am very proud of. And I am excited to be to call him my son in law in the future.
