**Consumer Alert**

The below timeline chronicles the ongoing and undue stress that I have experienced due to the egregiously inappropriate business practices of Great Southern Wood Preserving in Abbeville, AL:

§  January, 2008 Cecilia Ann Robinson Gordon

o   closed on the house located at  County Road 81, Abbeville AL

§  September 2015

o   We realized there was in issue involving the siding on our house and scheduled several contractors to come out and inspect the situation.

o   One of the contractors told me that I needed to contact my home-owners insurance-Country Financial.

§  May 17, 2016

o   First contact made with Country Financial

§  May 18, 2016

o   Country Financial came to the residence and took pictures of the house’s siding.

§  May 19, 2016

o   A representative from Country Financial called, requesting the name of the contractor who installed the siding, their phone number and where the siding was purchased.

§  Siding was purchased from E & W in Headland, AL – currently closed, E & W purchased from Great Southern in Abbeville AL

§  May 24, 2016

o   Country Financial called and said I needed to talk to Great Southern Wood Preserving. Agent said he would contact Great Southern and have someone contact me.

§  June 1, 2016

o   I called Country Financial agent because I had not heard from Great Southern Wood Preserving

§  June 8, 2016

o   I made another call to the Country Financial agent because I had still not heard from Great Southern Wood Preserving.

§  June 9, 2016

o   a representative of Great Southern Wood Preserving, called and wanted directions to the house to go make some pictures and said he would be back in touch with me. Never heard back from him.

§  June 16, 2016

o   I spoke to the installer, who told me that the siding issue stems from the materials being soaking wet and GREAT SOUTHERNshould have known that it should have been kiln dried beforehand to prevent shrinkage. He said that he would sign something to that affect, if needed. Perry also stated Great Southern no longer makes this particular size material anymore.

June 27, 2016

§  At this time I retained attorney to assist with the issue. He drafted and sent a letter to Great Southern Wood Preserving.

o   August 19, 2016

§  Great Southern Wood Preserving offered an initial settlement in the amount of $1,500.00. (Attorney for Great Southern)stated   “If she has photos showing yellow tags, receipts, proof of purchase, contractor documents, or anything else related to the material, please send them along, and I will review them.  As I mentioned, the records from what appeared to be the relevant time frame did not indicate that Great Southern sold the material”.

o   September 16, 2016

§  Provided Great Southern with an invoice and yellow tag, per request, as proof.

o   October 6, 2016

§  Great Southern offered a second settlement amount of $2,000.00.

o   October 10, 2016

§  My attorney emailed Great Southern and told him I was unwilling to accept his offer.

o   November 1, 2016

§  My attorney advised me to contact another attorney, because Great Southern would not respond to his emails and he was thinking it would require litigation.

o   November 16, 2016

§  I mailed a letter to the President and CEO of Great Southern Wood Preserving]’s son–in-law and son and received no reply.

**Here’s one tip, FB friends if you take nothing else from this post, PLEASE take pictures of those #YELLAFELLA #Yellawood #GreatSouthernWoodPreserving tags on the end of any lumber you buy from #HomeDepot #Lowes or even ANY Mom and Pop lumbar stores! Because, you know, while I was off working and my contractor was installing this #Abbeville favorite product, I had no idea I would NEED pictures of such- so do yourself a favor here, please! AND I pray you never need it!!

Shoulda Used #YellaWood – Oh, WAIT!  I did!  #ThisCouldBeYourHome
