HOUSTON COUNTY:     Houston County Commissioners met for the Administrative Meeting of the Commission Meeting. The Administrative Meeting is where Commissioners are to discuss items that are placed on the agenda for Monday's regular meeting.

Commissioner Jackie Battles was out of town and not present for today's meeting.

On the agenda was a resolution the county commissioners were set to discuss concerning the ATRIP Money which is a $ 1.2 BILLION Dollar Tax Increase.

The tax increase is in the form of a three cent "per gallon" increase at the gas pumps and off road fuel.

The $ 1.2 BILLION dollar tax increase is suppose to go for road construction across the 67 counties in Alabama.

The reason Chairman Culver gave for postponement of the discussion, I am told, is that all media was not present. And I was not present for the meeting. So thanks Chairman for the postponement and I will make plans to be there Monday.

Matt Boster with RSN was present and could have recorded it. But again thanks to Chairman Culver for waiting until I could be there on Monday.

To sell me on the $ 1.2 BILLION dollar tax increase is going to be difficult. It seems that the county commissioners are trying to do right and be wise stewards of the tax payers money. But as we research and find out more, it seem Chairman Culver intentionally does not tell the fellow commissioners the "whole truth". Culver only tells partial stories and only what he wants the commissioners to know.

And as we learn more, the fellow commissioners are learning more and the trust level for Culver has diminished tremendously. Not only amount the fellow commissioners and those who work with them, but the registered voters across Dothan and Houston County are finding that Chairman Mark Culver has been less than honest with them frequently.

But I do want to THANK Chairman Culver for waiting until I could be at the meeting on Monday to hear the discussion. The vote needs to be postponed to give the registered voters time to absorb and answer questions.

TO THE REGISTERED VOTERS OF DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY

BE AWARE, this $ 1.2 BILLION dollar tax increase members of the Houston County Commission are set to discuss and vote on Monday...if the Alabama Legislature approves it, the registered voters DO NOT get to cast a vote on it. This will be a mandate from the Alabama Legislature via your local county commissioners.

So your voice needs to be heard more with the State Senators ( Harri Anne Smith and Billy Beasley ) and State Representatives ( Paul Lee, Donnie Chesteen, Dexter Grimsley and Steve CLouse). And election is 2018.
