Many people look forward to opening presents Christmas morning and overwhelming excitement can cause some not to read the directions for your gadgets.
Last year more than 400,000 drones were purchased for the holiday and there were 300 incidents of "close encounters" between drones and manned aircraft's.
Those close calls can be avoided if you simply just read the directions inside.
The sky is the limit but for drones that limit is 400 feet and five miles away from an airport plus there' s also common courtesy.
"We don't operate over people or events who are not apart of that specific mission," said Jay Harbert.
It's important to know the weight of your drone because any unmanned aircraft weighing between .55 pounds to 55 pounds must be registered with the Federal Aviation Administration.
"Regulatory law is law so if someone is caught operating in an illegal fashion they are subject to fines and punishment from the FAA which is federal," said Jay Harbert.
