Girl Scout Summer Camp is an awesome opportunity for summertime fun – and it isn’t just for Girl Scouts! All girls in grades 2nd-12th are invited to experience a week (or two!) of amazing activities and opportunities for new adventures on beautiful Lake Martin at Kamp Kiwanis, or on the sandy hills surrounded by pines and magnolias at Camp Scoutshire Woods in Citronelle.
Karlyn Edmonds, GSSA Chief Executive Officer, said, “At our resident and day camps, your daughter has the opportunity to develop her leadership skills, learn about the world around her, and make special memories that will last a lifetime.”
According to a new study by the Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI), “More Than S’mores” (2014), girls benefit immensely from time spent outdoors. Girls who regularly spend time outdoors have more environmental stewardship, readily seek challenges, and are better problem solvers--all-important traits in 21st century leadership.
“Our Summer Camp offers something for every type of girl, including arts and crafts, archery, horseback riding, sailing lessons, outdoor cooking, team games, zip lining, paddle boarding, and much more,” Cheryl Miller, GSSA Camp Director, said.
Summer Camp options feature a day camp, a two-night sampler camp for rising 2nd- 5th graders, and a weeklong resident camp. Camp dates range from June 2 to July 12, and transportation to camp will be available for day campers.
Girl Scouts is committed to pursuing its mission through the camp experience, offering an astounding array of innovative, fun, and memorable camp activities that allow girls to build courage, confidence, and character. Registration is open now until May 1.
Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama serves more than 7,000 girls, ages 5-17 and 2,700 volunteers across 30 counties. For more information, please visit www.girlscoutssa.org/camp or call Cheryl Miller at 334-272-9164.
