HENRY COUNTY: The homeowner left his mobile home type structure and went next door to his son's home. In about 30 minutes from leaving his home, his home was destroyed in 30 to 45 seconds.
A carport over the cars, the weather lifted it up and tossed into the woods. It left no scratch on the cars.
The homeowner is a retired pastor, Mr. Pemberton. If the decision was not made to go next door, based on the damage, it would probably cost him his life.
The neighbor, his mobile home moved away from the porch.
Mr. Pemberton's son had a couple of sheds destroyed. A utility box trailer the weather literally pivoted the trailer around.
Within an hour Mr. Pemberton was on the phone talking with Alabama Governor Robert Bentley. The Governor, after seeing the picture of the damage, wanted to speak personally with Mr. Pemberton about the damage and experience, and offer his reassurance and condalences of the devastation of his loss.
Henry County Sheriff Sgt. Eric Blakenship took command of the area struck and organzied the department's management of the destruction. Henry County Road and Bridge came out and removed trees. Headland Fire and Headland Rescue responded and made sure all were ok.
Henry County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Dollar was on the road and Henry County E911advisory Director Chad Sowell was out making phone calls helping communications.
No reported injuries. A lot of damage and tree's uprooted.
