JEFFERSON COUNTY/BIRMINGHAM:      The following articles are in the news TODAY from Jefferson County Alabama, which the City of Birmingham rests in.

Jefferson County is not in Birmingham and Bessemer, but Birmingham and Bessemer are in Jefferson County.

The "CHIEF LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER" for Jeffferson County, to include Birmingham and Bessemer, is Sheriff Mike Hale.

Recently Jefferson County Mike Hale went against the majority of Alabama Sheriff's and spoke to the Legislative Judicial Committee and said do away with pistol permits.

Hale is in a county where he does not get on the streets and does not know what real law enforcement is like on the streets. Ano with 23 homicides in Jefferson County in the 65 days of this year, he apparently is out of touch.

Mike Hale should be in constant apology to the people he serves in Jefferson County, that he as Chief Law Enforcement Officer, has let Jefferson County get completely out of control. Over 100 people were murdered under his watch in the year 2016.

Then he wants to speak to the Judiciary Committee and be opposed to those Sheriff's that do hit the streets, have their counties under control, and know what it is to be a law enforcement officer.

To the Alabama Legislature:  Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale has allowed Jefferson County to be the murder capital of Alabama. And what he says should have zero weight or credibility. If he can not protect his citizens any better than what he is doing, it is time for him to go home.

Sheriff Hale, words are not adequate to describe the failure you are being to the people of Jefferson County. There is not one excuse you can give for your county in which you asked to be the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of to be having so many murders.

Most Alabama Sheriff's and law enforcement officers who work on the streets support keeping pistol permits.  They know what is needed and what helps them protect their citizens. You need some lessons from them.
