JEFFERSON COUNTY - BIRMINGHAM:    The lack of protection for the citizens and guests of Jefferson County and Birmingham Alabama continue.

Mike Hale asked the registered voters of Jefferson County to elect him as Chief Law Enforcement Officer. That request from Mike Hale to the voters was that he wanted to serve the citizens as their Chief Law Enforcement Officer.

In the year 2016, under the leadership of Mike Hale as Sheriff - Chief Law Enforcement Officer, Jefferson County has had over 100 murders.

In the 65 days of 2017, 23 murders.

And today:

2 people shot near Legion Field, Birmingham police investigating

Two men were injured - one of them seriously - when gunfire erupted near Legion Field on Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. at Sixth Avenue and First Street West, in the roadway between two stadium parking lots.

Birmingham police Lt. Joe Roberts said both victims were in a car headed northbound when a suspect or suspects from a passing car opened fire. The victims both fell out of the car, which then rolled for a short distance before coming to a stop.

But Sheriff Hale, who is not a Sheriff that works the streets like the area Sheriff’s in this part of Alabama do, testified to the Alabama Senate that he supported doing away with pistol permits.

That presents a lot of issues and hampers law enforcement in multiple ways. Most Alabama Sheriff’s support maintaining pistol permits. But Jefferson County Sheriff Mike Hale, who leads Alabama in murders, wants to do away with the permits.

But as you can see, crime is out of control in Jefferson County Alabama. And Mike Hale asked for and was elected as the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Jefferson County. That means, regardless where the crime occurs in Jefferson County, it is Mike Hale’s responsibility.

Sheriff Hale needs to listen to other Alabama Sheriff's.
