Linda Beasley Smith Passed Unexpectedly

SHORTERVILLE. .  Linda Beasley Smith, a resident of Shorterville, died unexpectedly Sunday night, February 19, 2017, at her home. She was 78.



            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 23, 2017, in the Camp Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, near Columbia, with Reverend Jim Corley officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the Camp Springs Baptist Church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Michael and Kim Arnold, Shorterville.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 222 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.



            Mrs. Smith was born in Illinois, daughter of the late William Sidney Beasley and Florence Stutz Beasley. She lived in Illinois, Indiana, California and Oregon before moving to Shorterville in 1980. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eugene Smith, Sr., a grandson, Jeremy Michael Arnold, and a brother, Robert (Bob) Beasley.



            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kim Arnold (Michael), Shorterville; two sons, Donald E. Smith, Jr. (Damari), Tucson, AZ; and Brian Smith (Carla), Shorterville; a sister, Mary Lou Hite (Ron), Lake Havasu, AZ; a brother, William Beasley, Washington; eight grandchildren, Angelia Arnold (Shane Hodges), Linda Guanches (Joey), Ashley Smith, Noeh Smith, Christian Smith, Melisha Laney (Andrew), Heather Duckett (Bryan), and Jessica Smith (Malcom); thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Smith family, Betty Obenland, Judy and John Taylor, Connie and Steve Plumier, Jackie and Leland Shrimplin; numerous nieces and nephews.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Bryan Duckett, Sr., Bryan (J.R.) Duckett, Jr., Malcolm Jeffries and Tristan Salinas.
