Motor Vehicle Accident and Semi Accident - Highway 231 South and State Line Road

HOUSTON COUNTY:   10:14 AM.  Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched fire-EMS-law enforcement to Highway 231 South and State Line Road at the Raceway to a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

On initial dispatch the information provided to the 911 Center from the callers, the accident had Entrappment and serious injuries. As per protocol, Wiregrass Life Flight was "auto launched" to the scene. Keep in mind, Wiregrass Life Flight is an Intensive Care Unit in the air. If you have problems breathing the medical staff on Life Flight have the training and authority to paralyze your airway and take over your breathing. Since their arrival in Dothan - Houston County, certain calls that meet an established protocol, the 911 Center dispatches Life Flight when the call is received. That is in the best interest of the patient.

Emergency units were quick on the scene and determined the injuries were minor and there was no Entrappment. Wiregrass Life Flight was cancelled.

The accident involved a semi truck and a passenger car.

Rehobeth Rescue, Madrid Volunteer Fire, Hodgesville Volunteer Fire, Houston County Sheriff Department and Alabama State Troopers responded. Also responding due the initial severity of the call was Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah.

NOTE:   

Since some wise government official decided to install a traffic signal at State Line Road and Highway 231 South, which north bound is just as you top the hill coming from Florida into Alabama, there has been more motor vehicle accident with injuries and motor vehicle accidents with fatalities at this location. 

But as we all know, the government is never wrong. If you do not think so, just ask one of 'em!
