An investigation was initiated after several complaints were filed with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and the Houston County District Attorney’s office on or about August 23, 2016.
This investigation has spanned over the last eight months and is still an active investigation.
The arrests warrants are based on Elbert Melton Jr. “NOTARY”
Melton did notarize Affidavit of Absentee Voter documents stating the signature(s) of the legal registered voter signed their name on the Affidavit of Absentee Voter Document in his presence as required by law.
Evidence obtained in the investigation indicated that at least three people did not sign the Affidavit of Absentee Voter Document in Melton’s presence.
The case is still ongoing and additional warrants may come forth.

Charge(s): Changing Ballots, Unlawful use of Absentee Ballots: Encouraging Voter Participation (VOTER FRAUD)
