Dothan: Held on March 18 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Spring Farm Day at Landmark Park offers a glimpse back in time to life on the farm in the 1890s in spring. Volunteers will shear the Gulf Coast Native Sheep that call the Wiregrass Farmstead Home. They will use the old fashioned methods of shearing, demonstrating what would have been done on a farmstead in the Wiregrass in the 1890s.

Spring Farm Day will also feature plowing with horses and mules, old fashioned music and other demonstrations throughout the day. Watch quilting, chair caning, bee keeping and border collies. Smell the woodstove cooking and try your hand at plowing. Master Gardeners will work in the Kitchen Garden, and visitors should make sure to visit the Kid’s Area. Live music will take place throughout the day. The Gazebo stage will feature bluegrass music, while the Landmark Dulcimer Club will perform folk tunes in the Waddell House. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and active military, $4 for children and free for children 2 and under. Park members are admitted free. For more information, visit landmarkparkdothan.com or call 334-794-3452.

Landmark Park is a 135-acre natural science and history museum located on the outskirts of Dothan.  Features of the park include nature trails, a planetarium, playground, picnic areas, an elevated boardwalk, a turn-of-the-century farmstead with sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, cows and other farm animals and crops typical of an 1890s farm.  In addition, the park includes a drugstore with operating soda fountain, one-room school, general store, and historic church, all preserved from the surrounding area. The park is open Monday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.  Regular admission is $4 adults, $3 for children and is free for park members and children age 2 and under.  The park is located on U.S. Hwy 431 North, three miles north of Dothan’s Ross Clark Circle.  For more info, call 334-794-3452 or visit www.landmarkparkdothan.com.
