DALEVILLE - OZARK:    Last evening the Daleville City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting. The Mayor and all council members were present. Also present were two former Mayors of Daleville, Mrs. Wigglesworth and Mr. Etheridge.

A recent hot topic has been the Solid Waste Authority. Dale County Commission Chairman Mark Blakenship made a recent presentation concerning the Solid Waste Authority. With that presentation it brought the wrath from Former Daleville Mayor Wes Etheridge and Former Mayor Billy Blackwell.

Both Etheridge and Blackwell are involved with the Solid Waste Authority and when it was originally formed in 1992. Etheridge answered some of the council members questions.

Daleville's City Council has a new Mayor and several new council members. It was decided to table the issue so that all council members could be brought up to date on Solid Waste Disposal, to include the Solid Waste Authority.

OZARK CITY COUNCIL

Last evening the Ozark City Council met in their regular scheduled meeting. The issue of the Solid Waste Authority was on the agenda of the Ozark City Council.

While I was not present at the meeting, it is my understanding that the Ozark City Council decision was to send out RFP's ( request for proposal's ) for solid waste disposal.

SOLID WASTE

Looks like I am going to have to do some digging about solid waste. Honestly I am like most of the public. My garbage can gets full, empty it, put it side of the road, and a garbage truck empties the can.

From there I have never considered that my problem or really thought about what happens. Other than argue with my county commissioners for my having to pay $ 15.00 a month for them to pick up  my garbage once a week.

And the same goes with most all of the commissioners and council members. They have no clue what happens or what things happen in the solid waste.

But this issue has brought the wrath of several people to the table and challenges have been made. So time to get educated on all of this solid waste.
