Three Vehicle Accident claimed the life of a Banks man

TROY POST – A three-vehicle crash at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, has claimed the life of a Banks man and injured a Montgomery woman.  Milton Leon Shipman, 78, was seriously injured when the 2004 Chevrolet Impala he was driving struck a 2002 International 4300 truck before colliding with a 2002 Ford Ranger driven by Melanie Lee Tomsha, 29, of Montgomery. 


Shipman was transported to Jackson Hospital, where he died at 11:53 p.m.  Tomsha was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.  The driver of the International was not injured. 


The crash occurred on U.S. 231 at the 174 mile marker, three miles south of Troy. Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
