Traffic Stop Lead to an Arrest in Marianna

On March 13, 2017, Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a White Ford Pickup on Penn Avenue for an expired tag.
Upon contact with the occupants, Officers detected the smell of burnt marijuana. During a subsequent search of the occupants, Michael Cotton of Chipley, was found to be in possession of another person prescription medication. While being detained, Cotton actively resisted Officers efforts resulting in a physical altercation between Officers and Cotton.
Further investigation found Cotton to be in possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia
Cotton was transported to the Jackson County Correction Facility to await first appearance.

Charges: Possession of Methamphetamine, Resist Officer with Violence, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
