DALEVILLE: The Mayor and City Council just announced that the New Police Chief is Willie Powell. Powell is currently employed as an investigator with the Headland Police Department.

CONFLICTING information in Dalevilla. UNCONFIRMED at this time. But from some reliable sources the new Daleville Mayor asked for a motion on Chief of Police. No Daleville Councilman would make a motion.


UNCONFIRMED we understand the Mayor said based on the size of Daleville he did not have to have a motion and could make the decision. So the Mayor selected Willie Powell as Chief of Police.


Then the Mayor asked for a motion for salary. Members of the Daleville Council adjourned to Executive Session. The council returned from Executive Decision and no motion was made as to salary for the new Chief of Police.


The council meeting was adjourned.


So on Wednesday a new Daleville Police Chief will begin. There was no official decision made to hire or salary to pay, as we understand.

We do not know the Mayor. Knew former Daleville Police Chief Harvey Mathis. And knew when Daleville had a real mayor, Etheredge and and real Police Chief, other than Mathis and his name was Etheredge.
