DOTHAN:    At app. 1:14 PM today Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance to the National Peanut Festival to a medical emergency.

Multiple emergency units rolled to the scene where a off duty Dothan Fireman was performing CPR on a patient.

The Dothan Fire units, Pilcher Ambulance, other emergency units to include Dothan Fire Chief Larry Willaims responded to the scene.

The patient was transported emergency, CPR in progress, and transported the patient to the Emergency Department where he was pronounced dead.

The person who died is 62 year old Greg Yost.

Yost worked for the National Peanut Festival and had worked for them for decades. He maintained the operation of the entire NPF as to the outside operations. It was Yost that made everything work, made sure everything was in place, all vendors had what they needed.

It was Yost that made all the water and electrical operations functions operate for the show to go on.

Greg Yost was a good man. Today he had just come in from fishing, a hobby he loved, when the onset of the systems came on him. Yost was one that was the "go to" man to make the outside operations happen, but he went around the facilities in a quiet function. Never seeming to be upset or in a rush, but making sure all details were covered.

When news flowed to the National Peanut Festival Board many dropped their Sunday plans and went to the Hospital. National Peanut Festival President Jason Rudd was at the Emergency Department almost as fast as the ambulance.

Greg was loved by the over 600 volunteers of the National Peanut Festival, all the shows through the years that used the facilities, and by the National Peanut Festival Board.

Houston County Commissioner Doug Singfield said he saw Greg this past Thursday at a board meeting. He seemed fine and discussed what all had to be done and what preparations were being made. Sinquefield said Yost was a good man and did an amazing job for the National Peanut Festival.

National Peanut Festival President Jason Rudd, as the staff and board are all emotional at this time. Rudd said that Greg Yost was tremendous and did an outstanding job in so many ways.

Prayers go to Greg's family, both his natural family and also his extended family of well over 600 people.

Also, thanks to the "off duty" Dothan Fireman who initiated CPR and worked doing all that he could possibly do to save Greg Yost life. Currently I do not know who you are, but on behalf of the Dothan Community, THANK YOU for all you do and all your efforts to save him today.
