A law enforcement officers job is not to make arrests and write tickets. But try to tell them that,

A law enforcement officers activity should never be measured by the amount of arrests and tickets he or she issues. A large part of a good law enforcement oficer's job is about building relationships. Those relationships move into information that is valuable to the law enforcement officers job in preventing and solving crime.

One such officer with Dothan Police Department is Bobby Ashley. He is the officer with in the department that builds a relationsip with the community.

In Rosenburg Texas a police officer did what a officer is suppose to do. Build a relationship with young people.

ROSENBURG TEXAS

A Texas police officer was patrolling the streets of Rosenburg Saturday when he noticed a young boy playing ball by himself. He decided to do something about it.

The officer can be seen in a dash-camera video stopping his car and it appears he says a few words to the boy, who walks off screen.

The next thing you see is the kid running, attempting to catch the football the officer has just tossed for him. The child returns the ball to the officer, who then tosses the kid another pass.

The two appear to play catch for a bit, reportedly as part of efforts by authorities to reach out young people in the community

OUR COMMUNITY

A Abbeville town council made it clear to me that four council members made a decision and it was final. The decision was no person in the City of Abbeville was good enough to be the Chief of Police.

One reason given was the Chief would continue to work in the Abbeville High School as a school resource officer. The four members of the council did not want the Chief of Police to build a relationship with the young people.

Seeing thr video in Teexas, hats off to their Chief and forward thinking council members. Not the backwards thinking council members of Terry Allums, Brendt Murphy, Eddie Jones and Billy Helms.
