MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -
One person is dead and four others are in custody after a house burglary and officer-involved shooting in Millbrook Monday.
Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said police received a report of a possible house burglary on Clearview Lane in the Silver Pointe neighborhood just before noon.
When officers arrived, they saw a vehicle outside the residence and took one person into custody. Johnson said the other suspects then fled the house.
One of the suspects was armed with a handgun and confronted an officer outside the house. The officer then shot the suspect, and the suspect died on the scene, the police chief said.
The other suspects fled the scene on foot. The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Elmore County Sheriff's Office and a K-9 unit joined the search for the suspects.
One suspect was taken into custody without incident just north of the neighborhood. About 45 minutes later, two other suspects were taken into custody in Elmore.
Johnson said the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
No information about the suspects was released.
