DOTHAN: At 11:35 PM Dothan Police 911 dispatched police - fire - Pilcher Ambulance to Alexander and Haven Street to an assault. On dispatch the 911 Center reported to assault victim was not breathing.
As emergency units were arriving the 911 Center upgraded the patient was breathing. Fire and EMS staged until police declared the scene safe. About 6 persons and the suspect were reported on the scene.
Shortly after arrival Dothan Police took one suspect into custody. The assault victim was breathing, but laid out cold "knocked out" in the yard.
Preliminary information is "new" boyfriend was at the house with girlfriend. The "old" boyfriend came over. The "new boyfriend" struck the "old" boyfriend ( preliminary ) with his fist. New knocked old out cold.
Dothan Fire and Pilcher called a trauma alert and notified Alabama Trauma Center. The patient was transported emergency to SAMC.
Dothan Police units on the scene called crime scene investigators to the scene.
New is in the police car. Old is in the emergency room.
