The Coalition for a Drug Free Dale County of SpectraCare Health Systems is planning its annual Red Ribbon Community Festival to celebrate Red Ribbon Week (National Drug Free Awareness Week) in Dale County. The event is planned for Saturday, October 22nd from 10am-1pm at the Ozark Square Shopping Center (downtown Ozark- across from the City of Ozark Municipal Building, next to Super Sav). The purpose of the festival is to unite all members of the community in order to send a unified message to our youth to live alcohol and drug free lifestyles. The Community Festival will also give families the chance to enjoy a drug free event together. The theme this year is “YOLO. You Only Live Once! Do it Drug Free!”

The festival will feature various booths, entertainment, contests, free food samples, and activities. There will be something for everyone, including a bouncy house, games, crazy hair booth, and more. Also, there will be valuable information for adults too. In addition, the public will be asked to be judges for the Celebrity Chili Cook-Off.  And at 12pm, there will be a Red Ribbon Week Proclamation Signing, with local dignitaries joining us. We are also holding a “Say Boo to Drugs” Costume Contest for children ages up to 12 years old. Registration is from 10am -11am. Judging will begin at 11 am, and prizes will be awarded. Coalition for a Drug Free Dale County of SpectraCare Health Systems is also very excited to be partnering with Make a Difference Organizers again this year on this event.

Red Ribbon Week was started in 1985 in honor of DEA agent Enrique Camarena who was savagely murdered because of the work he had been doing to stop drug dealers. Camarena believed that one person can make a difference, so can you imagine the difference we can make if we all join together?!
