Last week bandits hit Freightliner of Dothan on Speigner Road. The bandits are reported, UNOFFICIALLY, to have stolen a truck from Full Line Exhaust. They went to Freightliner of Dothan and stole 24 tires “off of” semi tractors. You know the big semi-trucks.

Reports are they then stole another semi from Freightliner to haul the tires.

Reports are the bandits then drove to East Main and Beverlye Road to exchange the tires from one stolen truck from Freightliner to another stolen truck. They then left Dothan.

We are not sure where the patrol unit responsible for that area was located. Perhaps he was busy issuing citations for fog lights on a foggy morning. However, it was apparent he was not on preventive patrol. Freightliner had to find that the tires were missing and report it to the police.

Reports are the bandits put the tractors down on concrete blocks and boards that were perfectly cut for the tractors to sit on. We did get pictures of the tractors after Freightliner moved them from the concrete blocks to jack stands.

As we understand Dothan Criminal Investigation Division is investigating this crime. That is if they get time.

No Press Release

Many of the media members have been complaining about getting reports from Dothan Police only on what they want to release. Not on everything that has been going on.

There have been no press releases issued on this criminal activity. That is, if I am correct about this crime occurring.

Dothan Police…Well they have been busy on letter writing…and failure to follow the chain of command

You know Dothan Police has been busy investigating off duty officers for writing letters to Florida politicians.

That is far more important to investigate and give major violations to than working the crime of someone stealing 24 tires from semi tractors. You know that stealing tires from 24 semi-trucks, well that only takes seconds to do.

And writing a letter to a Florida politician by an off duty cop, well that takes hours, cost Dothan businessman thousands of dollars and puts Dothan residents at risk.

Oh, that was the plan of City Manager Mike West and John Powell to get rid of those officers for years…

Rickey…what in the world are you talking about. Have you lost your mind?

Probably, yes.

But the Dothan Police Department, they never have enough police officers. So rather than solving time, Benton has allowed Mike West to dictate putting valuable police resources on “getting” officers and forcing their retirement. Something West and Powell conspired about in 2005.

UNOFFICIALLY Benton has not understood that he has more political clout then Mike West. So he issued suspension and a major violation against the Lieutenant - For writing a letter in his off time.

Someone tell Benton it is “local political pressure” on West that got him the Chief’s job. West did not want to hire him. He wanted to go out of town for another Chief.

Crime not reported to the media

And then 24 tires are stolen from several semi-trucks. The theft is undetected by police. How long does it take to steal 24 tires off semi-trucks?

And the Public Information Officer never does a press release. Which, we are finding is becoming a common thing. Not blaming her, perhaps the focus of the Police Department is to continue the Mike West internal hit list rather than letting the public know what is going on and solving the crime.

West has a contract coming up for renewal. Perhaps the contract needs to be considered carefully.

Then the commission members are up for re-election this summer. We know 2 who need to go…Critt Snellgrove ( the sign man ) and Albert Kirkland (the anti businessman ). Perhaps maybe the pumpkin.

Let’s give Mike Schmitz a whole new commission for him to work with.

But…24 tires were stolen from multiple semi tractors at Freightliner. If someone knows who did it call the Police and tell them, please…
