DOTHAN:      Riding with Dutch and Sara Holland for 40 years…

It was in 1972 that Dutch and Sara Holland started Harley – Davidson of Dothan. The husband and wife team has sold this one brand motorcycle and left all of the others in the dust…

Mr. Dutch Holland, age 79, remembers spotting two of the largest motorcycles he had ever seen at a service station in 1968. They were Harley Davidson’s.  Holland has no money but he knew the motorcycles were not purchased locally because there was no local dealership.

Dutch Holland is aggressive by nature. He wrote a letter to Harley – Davidson seeking a franchise.  Holland then forgot about it for three years.  Then one day he received a letter from Harley-Davidson. They were considering a site in Dothan.  Others had applied for a dealership but Harley-Davidson wanted to know if Mr. Holland was still interested.

Dutch and Sara Holland did not have much money. At the time Harley-Davidson wanted enthusiasts more than businessmen.  Holland quickly says Harley-Davidson made a businessman out of him.

The year was 1972 when Dutch and Sara Holland opened the doors to Harley – Davidson of Dothan.

The Holland’s have seen a lot of changes over the years. The culture of riders have changed over the years.  The Harley – Davidson riders are one great big family and has described by Mr. Holland “ they are some of the finest people you could ever meet”.

Harley – Davidson of Dothan, located at 2418 Ross Clark Circle at the corner of South Park Avenue and Ross Clark Circle, has an expanded showroom. Some of the finest bikes you have ever seen. A lot of accessories and motor clothing items for riders.

Wall of Death

The “sport” of drome riding began right here in the United States in the 1900’s. A true American  of Original.

We are the newest building and biggest shows to travel the country since their heyday in the late 1930’s. Being the newest in no way means we have less of a show. Our show is the most modern and safe in the country. Our riders range in experience from 2 years to 34 years of wall riding.

In 2001 American Motor Drome Company set out on it’s opening debut at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Our riders range in experience from 2 years to 34 years of wall riding. We feature the youngest an oldest riders in the business today. Since the beginning this building has provided a family oriented show where the daredevil racing continues just as it has throughout the years. Our schedule has built up from that one show to 14 events across the country including major rallies in Sturgis, South Dakota and Daytona Beach, Florida, along with small town rallies in Snyder, Texas and Soap Lake, Washington. Today, our building has been featured in just about every biker magazine and many television stations such as SPEED, Discovery, History and MTV. The year 2009 brings American Motor Drome Company’s family into it’s 7th season on the road, we hope to see you out there.

Machines

Vintage 1928 – 31 Indian 101 Scouts working for a living on the side vertical board wall. The 101 Scout is the undisputed Best mount for truck riding on the Wall of Death.

Spectators stare in amazement as the 81 year old motorcycle takes the wall at the height of the show. As the giant 300 pound motorcycle climbs through the rpms and scales the wall, the barrel actually flexes, giving crowds an additional thrill. The Scouts alone are an impressive site but to experience them, hear the engines rev, smell the fuel burn and feel them pass inches from you at the top of the WALL will leave you breathless.
