AVON: 4:20 PM. Houston County Sheriff 911 Center dispatched Cowarts Volunteer Fire and Ashford Fire to 191 Avon Road in Cowarts to a vehicle on fire in a field, and the vehicle was fully engulfed.
When the fire engines arrived the grass field was on fire and it was spreading fast with the wind.
Mutual aid assistance was called to the scene from Lovetown Volunteer Fire, Lucy Volunteer Fire, Webb Volunteer Fire along with Cowarts and Ashford.
Also called to the scene was units from the Alabama Forresry Service with a bulldozier. They plowed a fire break because the fire spread into the woods.
Houston County Sheriff Deputies Lt. Ivey and Deputy Floyd were on the scene. Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah was on the scene and Houston County Commissioner Doug Sinquefield.
The car was riding in the field when it caught on fire.
