According to WSFA: A new customer support center will be built in East Montgomery and is expected to create more than 500 jobs, according to an announcement made Thursday morning by the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and SYKES Enterprises. The jobs will come online over a 3-year period.
SYKES, based out of Tampa, Florida, operates customer contact management centers around the world. It's newest facility is expected to open in Montgomery by this summer and will be located at 201 Technacenter Drive.
Hiring is expected to begin immediately.
Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange called the announcement "great news" for the local economy, "but just as significant is that SYKES chose Montgomery. They found in Montgomery a place that could deliver their high standards, proving once again our city has earned a reputation for being a great place to do business."
Rob Duncan, Senior Vice President for SYKES North America operations, echoed the mayor's statement saying "We are coming to Montgomery mainly because of the people." He said the company specializes in developing people and delivering the right workforce to Fortune 500 companies. "We see all those characteristics in the great people of Montgomery..."
"We look forward to a great relationship with our new friend and partner SYKES," said Montgomery County Commission Chairman Elton Dean.
