HOUSTON COUNTY: The docket of the persons in the Houston County Jail which have not made bond are required to have a hearing before Houston County District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis.
If youu are charged with a crime and placed in the jaill you are required to come before the Judge within 72 hours of arrest, At the hearing the Judge informs you of crime you are charged with, the penalties, if they have an attorney or plan to hire an attorney. If they do not have an attorney and can not afford an attorney, if they qualify the Judge will appoint a Judge to represent.
The hearings are each morning at 8:30 AM and come before the Judge via closed circuit TV from the jail to the courtroom.
