7:25 PM. Dothan Police Encounter With Suspect On Stolen Car, Crash and Apprehension

DOTHAN: 7:25 PM. Dothan 911 received call of a car driving irrationally. The vehicle was on Ross Clark Circle near TGI Friday's.
Dothan Police intercepted the vehicle. As the officer was driving behind he checked the vehicle license plates. Dothan 911 reported the vehicle returned through the National Crime Information Center as stolen.
The officer surveillanced the vehicle and requested back up assistance. The officer still continued to follow and had not activated his blue lights. He was waiting for back up assistance to get into place.
The vehicle turned east on Main from Ross Clark West. As the suspect approached Jamestown the officer activated his blue lights. The vehicle turned into Jamestown, a gated community. While the entrance gate was closed the exit gate was open.
The suspect went into the exit gate. Apparently realizing he was trapped the suspect turned the flee and struck a truck. All of this at slow speeds.
The officers were out and on the suspect in a hurry. The suspect caused the officers to spray him with pepper spray.
The officers called Dothan Fire Engine 3 ( Westgate ) to respond non emergency to check the suspect.
The suspect was a black male.
Dothan Police Patrol called for Dothan CID to respond.
