I don’t think you could find all this entertainment in Dothan any cheeper. On Saturday September 27th at the Houston County Farm Center you can come to PorktoberQue and hear 8 different bands/ musicians on 2 stages, see the Car Show, watch the Ultimate Air Dogs, hang out in the Man Cave, get free polka dancing lessons, spin at least two different prize wheels, and see the Reptile Discovery Program for the whopping cost of just $3 per person at the gate. (Kids 6 and under are free). There’s also food you can buy and some activities for the kids (free bounce houses, but it costs to ride the ponies and rides).
Here’s the entertainment schedule on the outside stage:
Saturday September 27-
10:00- Karen Searcy- Karen has a wonderful voice that she loves to share with her community and others. Whether at a festival, church or in the shower, she’s always singing! Though she finds her peace and joy in singing Christian music and church songs, she is equally at home singing contemporary and classic songs.
11-12- RPM- Parts of this band were formerly known as the MudCats (among a few other things). This band has put together some of the finest musicians in the Tri-State Area, and will rock your face off. They have a combined gazillion years of experience and have one of the best sounds in the area
12: 15 -1pm Halie Long is an acoustic singer songwriter who loves performing in front of energetic crowds. Her wonderful and soulful sound lends itself making cover songs her own, while entertaining the crowd.
2:30- Academy Kids Que Awards on the Main Stage then Car Show Awards
3- 3:45 Raquel Lily- Raquel Lily was born in the Philippines, raised in New York, studied in Florida and Michigan, graduated in California, and currently living in Alabama; her eclectic background mirrors her unique pursuit to music.
Fred Mohns grew up in Birmingham and played guitar, bass and sang in various music groups. After graduating from UA, he moved to California to better develop his musical talents. After recording a number of his own projects at Weston House Recording, he began to assist the studio with various promotional projects, including the one that brought in the singing talents of Raquel Lily. They quickly began work on many other musical projects together. After returning to Birmingham with Raquel in 2013, Fred has worked full time producing, engineering, mastering her work.
Coleton Phillips joined the duo in 2014 as a percussionist. He developed his talents while playing for multiple Big Band/Jazz groups. Over the last few years, Coleton further expanded his musical prowess playing in piano rock/ pop groups in Nashville. He has since moved back to the Birmingham area, devoting his time to playing shows and recording with Raquel Lily.
The other stage is in the air conditioned Festhaus and features POLKA music all day from 10-6. Free polka dancing lessons at 12:30.
