BARBOUR COUNTY:   Major riot at Barbour County Jail. Reports are inmates have taken over one section of the jail.

Eufaula PD and swat on scene alone with units from surrounding communities. Clayton Rescue has transported several inmates to ER in Eufaula all have been transported code 3. This has been going on about an hour.

Reports are Alabama Department of Law Enforcement has been called in.

Jail is back under control Barbour County Deputies enroute to ER to assist Eufaula PD with security. Trying to get a report on how serious the injuries were to the inmates.

Just spoke with Barbour County Jail Administrator. As soon is the jail administrator and three deputies arrived they had the altercation under control.

The inmates did not take over the jail. There was fighting in the cellblock in the jail administrator and deputies, on their arrival to the jail were able to get it under control.

Some inmates  have been transported to the hospital for treatment of minorinjuries that were received from other inmates in the altercations. 

 The picture has been sent to us as reported to be the breakfast tray this morning serve to the inmates of the Barbour County Jail.

In feeding the prisoners if there is a profit from feeding the prisoners that profit goes to the Sheriff personally. In all fairness if a loss the Sheriff has to pay for the loss.
