DOTHAN:     The Dothan Police Department arrested Brandon McKnight and booked into the Dothan City Jail for Unlawful Imprisonment.

McKnight is a bondsman employed with Jim Griggs of G and I Bonding which operates in Houston and Henry County.

The allegations against McKnight, a black male,  are that he unlawfully handcuffed and detained a black male, Bobby Register, when he came into the office of G and I Bonding to make a payment on his bond.

Information is that Jim Griggs’ manager, Andrew Turner, a black male, ordered by phone for his agent, Brandon McKnight, to handcuff the person.

According to  information, after detaining the defendant, McKnight went to take the handcuffs off.

Problem, Jim Griggs’ agent did not have a handcuff key.

Reports are that McKnight then took the defendant in handcuffs, and walked him to a pawn shop where they had a handcuff key and took the cuffs off the defendant.

According to the records in Houston County Court, Jim Griggs of G and I Bonding nor any of his agents, had a bondsman process.  A bondsman process is what the City of Dothan believes is required for a bondsman to take a person into custody.

Arrest warrants were issued by the Dothan Magistrate Office for the arrest of McKnight. He was booked into the Dothan City Jail and released on bond.

ANDREW TURNER ACCUSATIONS

Several weeks ago, to prevent further bail jumping, Bondsman Rickey Stokes, is reported to have chained two persons to the Dothan Municipal Courtroom.

The two persons failed to appear in Dothan Municipal Court when ordered to appear by the court.

Two days following the defendants FAILURE TO APPEAR in Dothan Municipal Court, Bondsman Rickey Stokes had the subjects and was attempting to get them before the Dothan Municipal Court. The purpose was to settle the Bail Jumping issue.

Warrants were obtained for Stokes for two counts of Unlawful Imprisonment.  The arrest warrants were obtained after persons like Andrew Turner got involved and wanted it to be a racial issue. A white man chained two black men to the courtroom door, in front of a Dothan Police Officer, in an air conditioned Dothan Police Building, with the lawful purpose of getting them before the Judge when they had jumped bail.

A trial in the City of Dothan Municipal Court against Stokes.

A Trussville Alabama Municipal Judge was hand selected by Dothan Municipal Court Judge Rose Evans Gordon to try Stokes.

The Trussville Municipal Court Judge convicted Stokes and sentenced him to 30 days, suspending all but 10 days. The hand picked Judge ordered Stokes to serve 10 days in jail.

Stokes DID NOT serve 10 days and appealed the case to a Houston County Circuit Court jury trial.

Prior to the trial on RSN and to WDHN, Stokes made it clear that he would be found guilty. Stokes made it clear that Municipal Court was no about truth and justice, but was about revenue and revenge. Stokes said he would get a fair trial before a jury and it was impossible for a fair trial in Dothan Municipal Court.

What is funny about the arrest of Jim Griggs’  G and I Bonding agent is…

Andrew Turner was one of the people that accused Stokes and yelled obscenities to him in front of the Houston County Courthouse about Stokes apprehending the bail jumps. Andrew Turner accused Stokes of being a racist and chaining two black men to the Dothan Municipal Court doors.

What is strange in the arrest warrants on Jim Griggs of G and I Bonding employee. McKnight is a black male and so is Bobby Register.

At the time of the alleged unlawful imprisonment incident, Register had not missed court and had no failure to appear before the court. It appeared to have been a personal incident between G and I Bonding and Bobby Register.
