This morning the sky opened up but didn’t last long, it turned in to a perfect day to fish with some angles. Students from Houston County Schools and Dothan City Schools came together for a fun day of fishing.
Mr. Joe Phillips and his family have been hosting this event for several years now and the kids and adults look forward to this day for sometime. This year Mr. Joe restocked the pound with nearly 2000 fish.
Around 9:00am the first of the buses began to come in and with in an hour close to 600 people had arrived. Student and adult volunteers had the poles in the water and the fishing was good. Several hundred fish were caught and cleaned. This year’s event was the largest so far.
Some of the students were really getting into the fishing and several caught multiple fish. I have had the honor of attending this event for the past four years and I can tell you the smiles make it all worth wild.
