I have had several messages, calls and texts today from friends, public officials and friends on social media wanting to know what they can do for us in light of the recent targeting of police that has gripped the nation. We at DPD appreciate the overwhelming public support we have received and continue to receive from our community.
I am stunned at these events. I don't know how else to describe it. I was at church this morning with my family and got home to numerous messages of what had happened.
Please pray for our country, our public servants and all who represent peace and order in our society. That's the most important thing we can do right now--pray for these families who have a parent that is not coming home tonight. Pray that law enforcement catches all perpetrators of this crime. Pray for unity in this country and wisdom of our nation's leaders at all levels. That they may lead from the heart with the best interest of the country in mind, rather than getting re-elected.
Dothan is a great community with great people living here. There is hardly a day go by that someone doesn't tell me something positive an officer has done to assist them. I always make sure the officer gets praised for it. Please continue to encourage our police officers for their service.
We (all Dothan Police Officers) stand behind an oath to protect and serve this community and its visitors regardless of the personal cost. Although we're not perfect, I am so very proud of every employee we have and their commitment to service.
