DOTHAN: A very important icon who has touched many a life through bereavement is Max Jackson. I know of no other one person who has touched so many lives other than Max Jackson.
For many years he served as a funeral director at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. In later years Max moved to Byrd Funeral Home where he remained until his retirement.
Max was the most compassinate and caring person you ever met. He took care of the families and cared for them in a most personal way. Each was a family member not a customer. Max wept with the families in their loss.
Max was one for detail. He paced the floor looking at the board making sure all details were looked after. Was the make up correct, the lighting, the flowers are they perfect, the music, beginning on time, the families needs me. When Max Jackson was in charge, the bereaved knew all details were handled.
Many a family vacations and events were cancelled. The ministry to the family was first. Max had the obligation to look after the families.
There is one Max Jackson. He has trained many funeral directors, his nephew Buddy Jackson, Larry Mills, Bill Trant and many others. I even had the opportunity to help with funerals learning under Max Jackson. DETAILS - DETAILS all counts.
I praise God for allowing me to meet and work some under Max Jackson. Thanks to his wife and daughter who gave up family time with Max for him to minister to the bereaved.
If ever there was a man GOD called to minister, HE called Max Jackson. And when he entered the gates of heaven, I know Max Jackson heard "WELL DONE THOU FAITHFUL SERVANT".
