HOUSTON COUNTY: The person who once had the criminal cases nol prossed filed a lawsuit against Ashford Academy. She has now found herself arrested again, this time the victim being Dothan Police.
Offense Date May 6, 2013, Devin Wray Knowles, a female was arrested by Houston County Sheriff Department on six counts of Theft of Property. The combined theft allegations from Ashford Academy was in the amount of $ 99,085.92. The allegations are that Knowles worked for Ashford Academy from July 12, 2011 through January 27, 2012.
On April 13, 2015, Assistant District Attorney Patrick Amason filed a motion in Circuit Court of Houston County for the six theft of property charges to be dismissed against Knowles.
In May 2015 Knowles filed a lawsuit against The Houston Private School dba Ashford Academy. The lawsuit, according to Knowles was for defamation in the criminal case of the sum $ 99,085.92.
Ashford Academy has since closed because of financial reasons.
Interesting enough, offense date May 6, 2015. Knowles made a complaint to Dothan Police Department for Harassment and Criminal Mischief. Knowles made allegations of threatening emails and that her tires were being slashed. The complaints to Dothan Police were on the heels of the lawsuit. Knowles made allegations the emails and harassment were because of the lawsuit.
Dothan Police Criminal Investigation Division spent four months conducting a “who done it” investigation.
On Monday Dothan Police arrested Devin Wray Knowles for False Reporting to Law Enforcement and Tampering With Physical Evidence. According to information Knowles confessed the emails and allegations to Dothan Police were self generated by Knowles herself.
The civil action by Knowles came days before the lawsuit that was filed in Houston County Circuit Court.
At the time of this writing we do not know why the Assistant District Attorney moved for the case to be nol prossed.
Knowles was booked into Dothan City Jail and then Houston County Jail where she was later released on bond.
