Abbeville Man Charged with First Degree Robbery

On July 10, 2012 the Dothan Police Department were dispatched to the 3100 block of Flynn Road where responding officers found a woman lying on the ground suffering from an apparent assault which left her unconscious. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she received treatment for multiple injuries. The Violent Crimes Unit immediately took over the case and say the investigation has revealed the woman was assaulted during a robbery. Police say the victim was giving a ride to an acquaintance and had pulled into the parking lot of a business. Police say while in the parking lot, the acquaintance forcibly took the car keys and assaulted the victim who was then left in the parking lot. The suspect took the victim’s vehicle and fled from the scene. Investigators say they have identified and arrested Atibia McNair as the suspect and additionally say the stolen vehicle was recovered by authorities in Henry County bringing this case to a close.
· Atibia McNair, black male, 29 years of age, of Abbeville, Alabama was arrested and charged with First Degree Robbery with a $500,000 bond.
