OZARK: At the time of this writing I am sitting in the lobby area of the Ozark Municipal Complex. I have just left the Adminsitrative Offices of the Mayor/City Clerk for the City of Ozark.
I have received many calls concerning the appointment of the Police Chief for Ozark. These questions are people concerned over the actions of the Ozark City Council.
This morning I asked for the official notice of the meeting and the minutes of the meeting where the appointment was made. The lady in charge of the minutes told me the meeting notice was at the last meeting. The council announced in that meeting they would be holding a meeting at a specific time and date in which interviews would be conducted for Police Chief.
The lady informed me the minutes are not ready and not official until approved at the next meeting.
The lady informed me the council did adjourn to an executive session. After the executive session a vote was taken and the vote was unanimous for Marlos Walker to be the Chief of Police of Ozark Alabama.
Now I do not have a horse in the race for police chief. However, I have received numerous calls from citizens of Ozark upset. And they have communicated with me that Andy Gilland is the only Ozark City Council member who has admitted that he voted for Walker. The phone callers tell me that all city council members deny to them they voted for Walker.
Well it is simple...while I have not seen it in writing, the lady who has no reason to tell me misinformation,, and she is in charge of the meeting, assures me the vote was unanimous. So if any member of the Ozark City Council tells you different, call them a LIAR.
