Accidental Discharge Results in Injury

An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy is being treated at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for a non-life threatening self-inflicted injury.

     Law enforcement officers were undergoing firearms training at the Sheriffs’ Office Firing Range at 325 Grimes Avenue in Crestview when a deputy’s pistol accidentally discharged around 2:51 p.m. The bullet struck him in the left calf.

     The Sheriff’s Office will conduct an investigation to determine how the accident happened. More details will be released when they become available.
