The wiregrass owes a continuing great big THANK YOU and SALUATE Dale County Commissioners Doug Williamson, Steve McKinnon and Charles Gary for their full support of the Dale County Sheriff Air Unit.
It is the vision of all these that allows the wiregrass area to have for emergency deployment Air Patrol units in a moments notice.
On Saturday, as the emergency units were responding, AIR ONE was deployed from Ozark to Geneva County. The air unit, under the command of Dale County Sheriff Chief Deputy Tim McDonald, has proven to be a regional asset for the safety of the citizens and law enforcement. It is a valuable tool to watch overhead as K-9’s track making sure the officers are not ambushed. It is a valuable tool in the search for bad guys.
The Dale County Sheriff Air Unit has proven to be a major asset in the search of missing persons. The air unit is one of the first assets first responders call for deployment.
In Geneva County, one Trooper had already been shot. As the K-9 units tracked the suspect(s), the air unit flew overhead looking at what was ahead of the tracking K-9’s.
Several years ago in Holmes County Florida, a K-9 Officer was ambushed and killed as he searched for the suspect(s).
When the kidnapping of Ethan and murder in Midland City, Dale County Sheriff Air One was deployed at the time of dispatch. The air unit was able to fly over and give reports to keep all ground officers safe.
Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes realized what a valuable tool the air unit is. Sheriff Hughes has joined Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson in supporting the air unit.
It was great vision on the birth by Retired Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon.
It is great the vision has been continued by Sheriff Olson and Chief McDonald.
And THANKS for the continued support of Dale County Commissioners Williamson, McKinnon and Gary for the protection of Dale County residents and their guests.
