Alabama drought: Conditions continue to worsen with no rain

With virtually no rain over the past week, drought conditions again dramatically worsened across Alabama as expected.


There were giant leaps in the percentages of land in Alabama covered by the various stages of drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.


In fact, the drought in Alabama is the worst since 2007 when 99.97 percent of the state was classified as having drought conditions ranging from moderate to exceptional. In Thursday's update from the drought monitor, 98.48 percent of the state is covered by those ranges.
